October 29 - Impact Storytelling Workshop: Hosted Organization Endowment Funds

    Wednesday, October 28, 2026 | 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

    Presented by: Abundance Collective

    Where: Teams

Description: Donations to your endowment fund are strategic investments in your organization's long-term sustainability, but do your donors know that? Join us for an interactive online workshop on telling a strong story about the impact of your fund and the case for giving to it. A well-told story builds credibility with donors, signals long-term thinking, and opens the door to new gifts and larger contributions. Together, we'll build a clear, simple picture of how your fund creates change — from the support it provides, to the difference it makes in the lives of the people you serve. From there, you'll leave with a story of your own, grounded in your organization's work and ready for your next conversation with a donor, plus templates and resources to continue the storytelling. Whether you're new to fundraising communications or looking to sharpen an existing approach, this session is designed to be useful for organizations of every size and focus.

January 27 - Strings Attached: Navigating Restricted Charitable Gifts from Acceptance to Amendment

    Wednesday, January 27, 2027 | 10 - 11:00 a.m.

Presented by: Canadian Association of Gift Planning Professionals (CAGP)

Presenters: Kate Bake-Paterson, Counsel, DLA Piper (Canada) LLP and Roger Lee, Partner, DLA Piper (Canada) LLP

Where: Victoria Foundation Office, 703 Broughton Street

    Capacity: 10 people

Description: Restricted gifts can be a powerful source of funding, but they come with strings that can bind a charity for decades, and charities should not blindly accept a gift just because it is offered. In this webinar we will explore the key legal and operational considerations that charities should take into account when evaluating whether to accept a restricted gift in the first place and the tools available for varying the terms of a restricted gift after acceptance if those terms no longer serve their intended purpose or are otherwise problematic for a charity.

April 28 - Narrowing the Racial Wealth Gap: Planned giving as a tool for economic justice

    Wednesday, April 28, 2027 | 10 - 11:00 a.m.

Presented by: Canadian Association of Gift Planning Professionals (CAGP)

    Where: Zoom

Description: What if planned giving could do more than preserve wealth and support charitable organisations? What if it could help address the racial wealth gap? New research from the CAGP Foundation challenges some of our assumptions about who participates in legacy giving. Black, South Asian and Asian Canadians show higher-than-average interest in leaving charitable gifts in their wills, while immigrant Canadians are also more likely to express interest in legacy giving. This session explores what these findings mean for the future of planned giving. Drawing on the history of racialised wealth in Canada, Chantelle Ohrling examines how fundraising practices can either reproduce existing patterns of wealth and power or help disrupt them. Participants will leave with actionable ways to build planned giving programmes that are more equitable, relational and accountable to the communities they serve.
